Zones helped these homeowners achieve a private front yard abode for $13,000.
When Papamoa landscaping specialist Nigel Ramsden first arrived at this almost idyllic Papamoa property, it quickly became apparent that the front area of the home could do with some reviving. The grass was “struggling to survive” and, apart from a few kinds of grass and fruit trees, the property featured very little planting. Ready for a transformation, the owners asked if Nigel and his team could design and implement a private spa area with a new garden at the front of the house - with further garden plans in the future line-up.
“We designed the gardens for the whole property”, explains Nigel. “But the client just wanted this area built first. She was able to clearly see the area on the plan and we could give her an accurate cost.”
Once Nigel’s team had developed a design and plan that suited the client’s ideas and budget, they got to work. The team removed the lawn (saving the existing fruit trees so that they could be replanted at a later date) and excavated. Sourcing many of the project’s supplies from Mitre 10, they then lay concrete paving for the spa area and installed steppers that would provide easy access to the deck and utility area. From there, the front of the property really started to transform.
Wooden jatoba panel screens (now Nigel’s favourite feature) were installed along with palms and plants such as hibiscus, Bangalow palm, Bromeliads and jasmine climbers - just to name a few. To keep the plants healthy and easy-to-manage, the Zones team also installed an irrigation system and mulched the new garden. Finally, a gate was installed - creating a more intimate, separated space between the spa and utility area.
“It was an amazing transformation”, says Nigel.
Completed in perfect time for the homeowners to enjoy soaks in a warm spa pool over the coldest months of the year, the homeowners are now enjoying much more privacy and plant vitality surrounding their spa and master bedroom area.
