Landscaping specialists Matt and Boyd Gillespie designed and built this tidy functional landscape for a new home in Auckland on a budget
North Shore Zones landscaping specialists Matt and Boyd Gillespie were brought in to create a modern voguish landscape for a Jennian Homes Showhome in Hobsonville. The main objective of the project was to create a tidy and functional landscape for a new home on a budget.
Zones provided both design and build and their team carried out all the works required to bring this project to life. They used pavers, lawns, tiling, planting, and fencing to make this project happen.
As you can see in the pictures, this project is the perfect example of a stylish yet simplistic landscaping design. It began with a beautifully tiled pathway to the front door, instantly setting the stage for the rest of the home. There is a perfect blend of natural colours, ensuring the wooden fence and the white and grey tiles work perfectly together while complementing the plantings on either side.
The sleek fence separates the home from the street, while maintaining an enclosed boundary for the landscape. The stylish modern driveway adds a unique look to the property, separating it from the usual gravel or concrete driveways we’re used to seeing.
Matt and Boyd used a combination of landscapes to create contrast, including natural plants, artificial turf, black bark, and white pebbles. Using simple yet elegant choices such as these can help any homeowner create a sleek landscape on a budget.
The wonderful tiling scheme continues around the home, giving it a unique upscale look. When we come to the backyard, there is a flat, pet-friendly area that perfectly utilises the artificial turf. A symmetrical, long patch of planting runs alongside the fence to create a double-boundary that also looks aesthetically pleasing. There were several plants used in this landscape, including Ficus tuffi, Magnolia, and Michelia feature trees.
Also included in this landscape is the perfect entertainment area that contains a mixture of wooden decking and tiling. The tiles continue the scheme used around the home, while the decking complements the fences and natural colours. This elevated area provides the ideal space to take in the sun, watch the kids and pets play in the backyard, or simply take in the view of the neighbourhood. Not to mention the indoor-outdoor flow it creates, allowing the homeowners to entertain both inside and outside simultaneously!
The project went smoothly and there were no real challenges, however, Matt and Boyd had to liaise with multiple sub-trades who were all trying to finish various aspects of the home at the same time. When you work with Zones, we make sure to liaise with all trades for you, acting as your single point of contact. This makes your entire landscaping journey streamlined and stress-free. There was no council consent required for this project, but Zones usually takes care of that for you as well.
The final result is an elegant and aesthetically pleasing landscape, with plenty of functional space for a new homeowner to add their own touch!
