Landscaping specialists worked with these Auckland homeowners to create an idyllic backyard garden.
The owners of this spacious Auckland property worked with landscaping specialist to create their dream backyard. Initially seeking to improve their backyard entryway, they were soon inspired to enjoy a more thorough garden design.
“The initial brief was to widen their pathway that leads from the front of the house into their backyard, creating easier and more visually appealing access”, tells the team. “However, during the briefing and design stages, it became clear that the existing deck needed replacing, and the client was keen to make the whole area more attractive and also wanted to tidy up their garden and make it lower maintenance.”
Landscaping Specialists worked with team member Julie Moncur to create a design that would meet her client’s style and specifications.
“The clients loved Julie's design and were happy with our material suggestions, which meant quick decisions were made regarding the concept, scope and budget.”

This allowed the team to quickly get the project underway - rebuilding stone walls with bluestone, installing beautiful natural stone paving, Vitex decking, as well as a new timber garden pergola with climbers planted beneath it and an array of colourful new plants.
“The demolishing and rebuilding of the client's existing stone walls (with additional stone) was the most challenging aspect of the project”, says the team. “But the contrast of the timeless bluestone walls and natural stone paving next to the new vitex hardwood stairs and deck looks pretty stunning.”
The final result is a tranquil garden space with rustic elements. The deck area is an ideal space to use for dining, socialising and soaking in the sun. The new pathway adds elegance and style to the home exterior, while each detail of the design complements the next.
Overall, it’s a functional and peaceful space that the homeowners will be sure to enjoy for years to come.
