How much will my pergola design and build cost?
The final cost of your project will depend on the materials you select, the dimensions of your pergola, the conditions of the building site and whether or not your pergola installation will require council consent. Typically, basic pergola installations range anywhere from around $200 - $1000+ per m2 (excludes GST). Most of our customers choose to have a pergola installation carried out as part of a larger landscape design - these often cost $50,000 or more. However, your Landscaping Consultant will work with you to achieve a result that suits your budget and requirements.
*Costs are rough estimates and are subject to change For a fixed-quote accurate to your specific project, please consult your local Zones Landscaping Consultant.
Will Zones take care of any required council consent?
A pergola will, generally, only require a building consent if a roof is included in its design. If this is the case, your Zones Landscaping Consultant will take care of the application and approval process for you. For more information on pergola consents, visit www.building.govt.nz or consult your local Landscaping Consultant.
What materials should I use for my pergola?
Wood and aluminium are two of the most common materials used in pergola builds. Timber is very affordable and provides a rustic, natural look. However, hardwoods such as cedar are a more durable option. Keep in mind that any type of wood will need to be sealed for outdoor use. Aluminium is a highly durable choice and, while more expensive than wood, is more durable and will require less maintenance. Your Landscaping Consultant will be able to provide you with further guidance on your options.
