North Shore landscaping specialists Matt and Boyd Gillespie worked with the owners of this new home in Long Bay to create something truly special. The homeowners had witnessed the Zones North Shore team carry out a design and build project down the road and, impressed, asked them to work on the design and build of their own property’s landscape.
Developing a new landscape design
“They had some great ideas about how they wanted to use the areas around their new house”, tells Matt.
A new planting plan was a key aspect of the design, and drainage became a challenge early on.
“Drainage at the rear of the section meant a few trips back to make sure the plants were surviving”, says Matt.
When it came to addressing the car park, Matt and Boyd had to get innovative.

“We used synthetic grass as a car park to get through local rules regarding car/boat parking.”
The finished design and build is a carefully planned combination of planting, social areas, privacy and style; it suits the home and surroundings perfectly.
“The project was great fun, the clients were awesome and, despite the drainage challenges, the plants all came away well and have already begun to create the privacy the clients desired."
