The Zones Landscaping Specialist updated this property with new decking, a Readylawn, paving and planting.
With all-day sun, this West Auckland property had plenty of potential to be transformed into a fantastic outdoor space. However, its slope made it difficult to use and maintain. The homeowners sought the help of West Auckland Landscaping Specialist who took care of every stage of their backyard landscaping project.
After an initial consultation, the team began working with the homeowners to develop their ideas into a feasible design.
“It was important for our client that the area was easy-care and had some wow factor”, explains the landscaping specialist. “They wanted us to transform their backyard from an unusable space to an area where they could enjoy the outdoors.”
The team put together a design that took the property’s levels into consideration and optimised the existing space. Once the homeowners were satisfied with the design, a quote was provided and the works began.
The landscaping specialist ordered the required materials for the project and, in collaboration with Feature Landscapes, scheduled in a team to carry out every aspect of the design. Following some excavation work, the team turned their attention to the deck. Working with Kwila decking from Mitre 10, they extended the deck and built-in some steps. They also constructed a timber screen and raised planter boxes.
Leading down from the new steps, the team installed natural pavers to create a sun-soaked patio that flows on to a pebbled pathway. To keep the surrounding landscape tidy, a Readylawn was then installed by The Lawn Laying Company.
With the hardscaping and softscaping taken care of, the team began adding some vibrancy to the garden. After sourcing soil and mulch from Central Landscape Supplies, they began planting a variety of plants throughout the garden; including Michelia figo, Vireya rhododendron, camellia sasanqua, star jasmine, lilyturf, gardenia radicans, Tahitian lime and a dwarf cherry tree.
“It was rewarding to see the transformation from the overgrown area it was before to a space that can now be enjoyed by the family”, says the landscaping specialist. “The Kwila steps have linked the deck to the lawn and patio, they also double as a great seat to enjoy the afternoon sun. The raised planter boxes that make up the garden border are a standout feature. The stepped patio pavers and pathway help to link the different areas of the garden and give alternate access to the driveway. The Readylawn is excellent and provides instant grass that looks brilliant.”
