This customer wanted to build a deck over the existing concrete patio, creating an elevated outdoor area.
When Zones Whangarei landscaping specialist first met with this homeowner for a consultation, he was led to a peaceful backyard alfresco area. The landscape featured a concrete patio and spa pool. the Landscaping Specialist's customer explained that he wanted to build a deck over the existing concrete patio, creating an elevated outdoor area. He also wanted to add a hardwood deck to the front of the property.
“The client lives by the coast so he wanted a quality hardwood decking material”, explains the Landscaping Specialist. “We chose to use Vitex Watershed 140mm wide boards and stainless steel fittings, supplied by Mitre 10.”
Building a deck
Working with Zones meant that the Landscaping Specialist’s client could simply state his specifications and carry on with his busy lifestyle while the project was carried out for him. Once he had a clear understanding of his client’s objectives, the Landscaping Specialist worked with the Zones team to create a concept plan.
“The fall of the deck boards had to run so that they were aesthetically pleasing and functional providing seamless indoor-outdoor flow”, the Landscaping Specialist notes. “The design process was key in communicating the final look and requirements to both the client and the construction team.”
Once the concept plan and fixed-price had been approved, the Landscaping Specialist managed the construction phase - ensuring it met his client’s expectations and that it was completed on time and on budget. Within two weeks time, the Landscaping Specialist presented his client with his tastefully updated outdoor area.
The final result
“The Vitex boards with stainless steel fittings give a great finish which will withstand the coastal conditions for years to come,'' says the Landscaping Specialist. “The shaping of the deck around the spa area is a big improvement and ties in nicely with the rest of the entertainment zone.”
